Can’t say for sure, but I’m 99.8% positive that the press took the actor’s words the wrong way. As far as we know, main characters have not been cut from the show. In previous seasons, however, they were (Batt/Gladis), and that was the subject of that part of the discussion.

We here at MMD are very much fans of this. I don’t personally want to get my hopes up, in case Matthew doesn’t feel like giving us that chemistry, but at the same time, I never expected in a billion years for Roger and Joan to hook up again and they (!!!!) did. We’re total Don/Betty shippers, and when we watched the finale of Season 4 together, when we saw that look of his at the end, we were both convinced he was thinking of Betty.
I’ve read Christina Hendricks saying this before; she’s always shocked when people bring that up to her, because she’s never thought that about them. I think they have a mutual respect for each other that transcends sexuality, and it’s more of a professional thing.
