relapsinglazyholic: Don did the right thing. He had no idea re: Lane's mental state, and how desperate the man was. Don's smart but he's not all-knowing. If someone embezzles money it's a criminal offense. Don was right when he said that he was doing the most decent thing for Lane by not calling the police, letting him resign, giving him the weekend to come up with a plausible story, and covering the money that Lane stole. Don was perfectly reasonable given the circumstances.

oh yeah completely. from a personal level, putting myself in lane’s shoes, the idea of losing a visa and having to come back from new york to this country could make a person lose their will to go on. (kidding… too soon) yeah, don was courteous. he wasn’t about to let anyone else in the company know exactly what went down. but everything lane loved was part of that city, that firm, and that country. it’s definitely not don’s fault in the least, nor can he be held accountable. i do see how it all broke lane’s heart though.
