Anonymous: On ITAS, Matthew Weiner said that they [the cast] smoke herbal cigarettes. Well, he said, 'weed' (LOL!) -- are herbal cigarettes like, fake cigarettes, or are they like the actual thing? And do they drink real alcohol or is is watered down, or iced tea? I'm sorry my questions are so silly, I just never know.. I only know that stuff isn't allowed on sets (understandable so), and although I've had this explained to me a few times, it's ALWAYS confusing! :x

there’s no such thing as a silly question in my book! they smoke herbal cigarettes and drink water (using caramel colouring for the darker drinks.) there’s a nice little article here.
