pursuitoftappiness: To the anon who mentioned Lois having a job versus Savatore's firing - I think it's a statement as to the mindset of the men in power. They can forgive a woman for making a stupid mistake, likely because at the time it was natural to simply think less of most women in general, however, they can't get past Salvatore's nature, because for the time it was so unacceptable in society and they didn't know how to deal with such a difference in male characteristics.
