Anonymous: Doesn't Mad amen have a pattern of not falling into the cliche social issue plots that always are in 1960s-set dramas? The issues are important, yes, but that kind of television makes for shallow character development because they are only defined by their sexuality or ethnicity or gender. Mad Men has touched on them all briefly (of course, gender, with the women, race, with Dawn, and Salvatore's brief stint) but not enough to make the show cheesy and typical, which I love.
