The season’s top contenders Claire Danes, Mireille Enos, January Jones, Julianna Margulies, Emmy Rossum and Kyra Sedgwick talk to THR about bad auditions, breastfeeding on set and their views on nudity in THR’s Emmy roundtable. The actresses were photographed April 30 at Perch in downtown Los Angeles.
“I loved it. I didn’t want to try to hide it, I thought it would become comical and weird,” Jones said when asked about Mad Men showrunner Matthew Weiner’s decision to make her character Betty Draper fat, coinciding with Jones’ real-life pregnancy.
“When Mad Men started, my character had a bunch of monologues because she was in therapy, but the therapist never spoke,” Jones told THR. ”I had no exercise to try to help me with that. So I recorded myself saying stuff and then listened to it while I slept, hoping that it would stick like a bad song. And it worked!”
